Nobody Doesn’t Need an Editor

I know my way around the English language. And I’ve been doing a lot of writing for a long time. But I nearly always make mistakes. Sometimes I catch them before I hit the “post” button. Sometimes I don’t. That’s why I prefer the comments system at the Wall Street Journal to the one at the NYT. The Journal provides a window of a few minutes for editing a posted comment. At the Times, there’s no opportunity to edit once the posting deed is done. Today, even the editing opportunity at the Journal didn’t save me. I noticed only afterward that I’d included an extra word in a sentence. Yes, I’m obsessive about getting the language right. I’m not necessarily proud of it. Nobody’s perfect.
